Increasing Awareness
Praying Aunties is committed to providing education to increase awareness regarding modern day slavery, connecting women with other women working to combat the issue and provide support to trafficking survivors and their rescuers.
The 2014 Global Report on Trafficking in Persons was released November 24, 2014, in Vienna, Austria and reported that one in three known victims of human trafficking is a child. Girls make up 2 out of every 3 child victims, and together with women, account for 70 % of overall trafficking victims worldwide. It is estimated that there are 36 million slaves worldwide.
To accomplish our goal, we are available for speaking engagements at churches, private and public schools, community groups, businesses, homes or organizations.
PRAYER
Praying Aunties and Uncles are prayer warriors in the battle of bringing restoration and wholeness to the lives of victims of human trafficking. We pray for women and children living in group homes in various parts of the world. Each Auntie and Uncle is given the name of a specific victim that becomes their special one to care, love and pray for. In time a special bond of friendship and love grows between the two that transcends temporal boundaries. Aunties want to make a difference in the lives of women and children through prayer and some financial support. We provide loving care and prayer for not only those rescued from human trafficking but to those heroes working directly with the victims in the rescue homes and in the field.
Compassion and Hope
Prayer is the embodiment of the work of Praying Aunties but prayer must be balanced with compassion. Matthew 9:36 reads - "When he saw the crowds, he was deeply moved with compassion for them, because they were troubled and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. " We must be deeply moved with compassion or our prayers become nothing more than meaningless acts. Praying for issues like slavery, sex trafficking and violent injustice can be daunting but it doesn’t need to leave us paralyzed with fear or despair. Compassion is the crucial element for grounding our prayers with the firm foundation needed to persevere in the fight renewed daily with hope.
